Hate seeing trash all around the beach? So do we! We have tons of trash laying around from beach clean ups and need to get rid of it somehow. What better way to do that than making beautiful pieces of art!

Join us May 11th for a beach clean up around Oceanside pier, with an art workshop where we are going to be making plastic monsters, planter boxes, and other artwork, all out of trash that we have gathered from our local San Diego beaches! Bring your kids and have them enjoy a hands-on workshop hosted by Kira Corser. Kira will show kids how big of a “monster” plastic is to our oceans and how harmful it can be to it’s ecosystems.

Rubio’s will be throwing a party celebrating our oceans at the Oceanside Pier. There will be free food, entertainment, a world record breaking attempt and a beach clean up! For more details about what Rubio’s is planning for this party, visit: www.Rubios.com

We will be there with 5 local artists who all use recycled materials in their artwork!

Artists that will be hosting workshops:

Kira Corser
Lester Corral
Susan Doyle
Skyler Wefer
Carol

Volunteer divers and snorkelers needed to help clean our white seabass pens!

When:
Saturday, June 1, 2013

Time: 8:00 am - 10:00 am
Are you a certified diver or snorkeler wanting to try something new, but don't mind getting dirty? As time goes on, our white seabass pens become COVERED with a variety of marine life that has found the perfect place to settle and take up residency. Problem is, this blocks out the very vital water and oxygen circulation necessary for the health of our little fish! In order to keep our babies strong and ready for release into the wild, we need to perform regular maintenance on their containment nets...and that's where you come in! Just one morning a month, 'Pen Pals' scrub our mesh nets in shallow waters, so the fish can breathe easy once again.

Email us at whiteseabass@sdof.org to get involved. RSVP is required to attend!
